Visible Boys Hope to Become Visible Men

Explore spoken word poetry from the students at the Visible Men Academy in Bradenton Florida.

We were recently invited to watch a performance by some of the students at the Visible Men Academy in Bradenton Florida.

They were asked to write poems in response to watching their words come to life in a staged reading of this year’s Faces of Change.

Asolo Repertory Theater’s community-based documentary theater project, Faces of Change, asked: how does faith both connect and divide us in America Today?

The 4th & 5th graders took a field trip to watch the first reading live at Temple Beth Sholom.

In the following weeks, they were asked to write spoken word poems to capture their thoughts about the entire experience.

We were blown away by the depth of their responses.
