Woman Assaults Staff & Volunteers at Planned Parenthood in Sarasota

We recently posted a video on our Facebook page which has caused a bit of a stir on social media.

In it, a woman is seen attacking volunteers and employees of the Planned Parenthood in Downtown Sarasota Florida. Many people are asking for the whole story, and want to know why we posted it.

It appears the woman in the video was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and is clearly suffering from a mental disorder. We published this because scenes like this often go unreported in an attempt to preserve our pristine standing as a tourist destination.

We are working on a longer version with some more of the backstory which we will release if and when we feel it is appropriate to share the rest of the video.

Regardless of your feelings for Planned Parenthood, we are being careful to protect the identity and privacy of their employees and patients through this experience. It is why we have not released the full video, and why the video we have released is heavily blurred. We have been in communication with the local chapter of Planned Parenthood through this process, and are fully cooperating with the police on their investigation.

Stay tuned for more information and follow us on Facebook for more videos.

Below is an official statement from the folks over at Planned Parenthood.

Stephanie Kight, CEO, Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida:

“Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of all people, and we remain focused on fulfilling our mission of delivering high-quality health care to our community, no matter what. There was an unfortunate incident at our Sarasota health center today when people passing by our health center became involved in an altercation that spilled into the lobby of our health center. Our staff responded to the safety needs of our patients and volunteers and are now working with the Sarasota police to handle any follow up.

We hope that the people involved are able to receive the compassionate care that they need. We are so grateful for our volunteers and staff who are committed to providing a safe space for those seeking our care.”

We will update this page with more information as we get it.
