In this tutorial we walk through the process of updating the SU events calendar by publishing draft articles as they are imported from Facebook.
In this tutorial we walk through the process of updating the SU events calendar by publishing draft articles as they are imported from Facebook.
Once Events are imported they will appear in the events post type as drafts
Clicking on the title of a draft event will open the event and all associated information.
Below the description is the location and organizer information. When Importing events from Facebook, the image, location and event description should all be filled out. Please review this information to make sure there are no errors.
Once you confirm this information it is time to add tags and assign the event to a category
Events should have 1-2 tags and be listed in a single category. Categories are a high level tool to organize events by type and tags are for descriptive purposes. There is no limit to the number of tags you can assign an event, but please be sure you are looking for existing tags before creating new ones.
The last step is to fill out the Page Title and Meta description for Search Optimization Purposes and fill in an excerpt to be displayed publicly.
The page title will default from the top of the page, but the meta description will just pull the first few words from the description so we need to optimize this to let people know what the event is about if they find it while searching. We will also use this description as an excerpt to display publicly on the front end of the SU Website.
Once you have completed this step, the event is ready to publish. Take one more look to make sure that everything is where it should be and click publish.
You can always make changes to any event, or edit an event by clicking the link in your admin bar at the top of the screen.
