Mandatory Considerations before using Open Source Code

Whether you’re a software developer, a business owner or an acquirer of businesses, you need to understand Open Source Code. It’s too advantageous to ignore and too dangerous to underestimate.

This presentation will cover:

i) A general history and overview of Open Source Code,

ii) Its legal mechanics and potential legal pitfalls, and

iii) Prudent courses of action for:

a. Software Developers who are looking to avoid malpractice;

b. Business Owners who are looking to avoid unforeseen litigation; and

c. Business Acquirers who are looking to save money on the purchase price of acquisitions.

Bio: William F. McDonough is the owner of The McDonough Law Office, P.L., where he focuses his practice on Technology Law and related contracts. Mr. McDonough is admitted to practice law in Florida and holds a law degree from Stetson University College of Law, a LL.M. from University of Miami School of Law and a M.B.A from Stetson University. Prior to opening The McDonough Law Office, P.L., Mr. McDonough practiced Mergers and Acquisitions for Allen Systems Group Inc., an enterprise software provider.
