SoundStage Soirée 7: Shadow of the Castle

The Soundstage Soiree series, featuring talented local artists, is expanding and raising the bar each time. We had a great crowd response at our last event, and we are aiming to top that for this March 13th! Come celebrate the progress of the Ringling SoundStage construction with us, and network with other artists, art lovers, musicians, and music/entertainment industry professionals from 6-7:30 p.m. Then, stick around for some special performances from a variety of local artists!

Each artist showcases 3-4 of their favorite songs to treat you to their musical vibe. Our special musical performances for this March 13th:

BABYL will be starting us off with a full-band appearance, playing a few of their high energy alternative originals. They had the entire room dancing last time, and are ready to get the energy pumping again!

Malachi, a local freestyle artist, will be performing his raw, original improvised spoken word/hip hop.

Dreamspeak, an impermanent gathering of determined optimists aiming to celebrate the music of the spheres.

ZEN Seraphine will be bringing some electric violin fusion with their unique blend of world funk/nu jazz. This eclectic husband-and-wife duo are excited to blossom their sound into a fully live 4-piece band for this special event.

Sam Robertson, with her striking voice and profound lyrics, will be gracing the stage, showcasing her soulful originals with style and presence.

BABYL will close the night with some high-energy jams to top off the celebration with more dancing.

The Ringling SoundStage complex, set to open its doors this summer, will “comprise 25,000 square feet of soundstage spaces, and over 5,000 square feet of post-production spaces, including editing suites, dubbing bays, faculty offices, a private screening room, and a Foley sound effects stage.”

The Soundstage is attracting attention of investors, artists, actors, film/music/entertainment industry professionals…

But Sarasota, we want YOU! We hope to get as many local Sarasota artists/industry professionals involved as possible. These Soundstage Soirees are being held to help foster community and exposure for local, original artists.

Come network and find out how else you can participate, contribute, or learn more about our goals to integrate the local art & music scene!

Anne Patterson: Airidescence Opening Night

Airidescence, a combination of abstract watercolor paintings, hanging ribbon sculptures and wire installations, is Anne Patterson’s first Alfstad& Contemporary exhibition. The works transform the gallery into a multi-sensory realm where viewers experience Patterson’s integration of two worlds: art and music.

Due to synesthesia, a neurological condition in which the stimulation of one sense causes an involuntary response to another sense, Patterson hears color and sees sound. “I see an incredibly magnificence of colors and shapes when I hear music,” she says.

Based in New York, Patterson exhibits throughout the US and Europe. Her paintings and sculptures are not only in private, public and corporate collections, she has created massive installations of colored ribbons and light for major orchestras across the country, including the San Francisco and Atlanta Symphonies, Philadelphia and American Symphony Orchestras and the New World Symphony in Miami.
Experienced in theatrical design, Patterson’s Graced with Light, a music-inspired installation, filled the vaulted ceiling arches of San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral with 20 miles of ribbon. She created The Light Between out of aluminum wire to heighten the natural light is an atrium in Boston. “I wanted to make light tangible,” she says. “Bring its joy and energy down to the ground level of the building.”

We invite you to experience Anne Patterson’s work for yourself. You can also view her “Pathless Woods” interactive, multi-media installation at the John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
