Miracles on 17th Street

Miracles do happen. But not without the commitment of a collaborative community and the support of people like you.

Please join us in the celebration of the everyday miracles made possible by our campus partners — a collaborative of more than 17 nonprofit agencies providing over 80 programs to those most in need — and get a first look at future miracles to come!

Cocktail, 5:30pm
Dinner, 6:30pm
Stilettos, like miracles, are heavenly things. However, we kindly advise you to keep your feet on the ground as this event takes place on grassy terrain. Fashionably casual attire.

Thank you to our event sponsors!

Puerto Rican Farmers’ Fundraiser

Puerto Rico’s farms have long been the lifeblood of the island, providing food and employment for centuries. Since many farms were destroyed after Hurricane Maria, and many lack the means or other financial assistance to rebuild, the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Florida is working hard to raise funds to provide relief and aid to get these farmers back on their feet, providing food to the people, and enabling them to once again care for themselves and their families. Please help by attending this fundraiser. 100% of the funds are going directly to farmers. All funds raised will be delivered to farmers on January 6th, Three Kings Day, to celebrate new life and new opportunity. http://www.PuertoRicanChamberofFlorida.com

The Allison Event

2017 Allison release – A raspberry wheat beer made with lemon peel, corriander and locally harvested honey from Sarasota’s own Aloe Organics. Over 700 lbs of raspberry were also used in the making of this delicious, approachable brew giving it a slight acidity and dark pink color.

2017’s version of “Allison” represents the second release in the series for Calusa Brewing and is created in celebration of the strength and fortitude of those afflicted by cancer.

100% of the profits from draft sales of Allison on 10/15/17 will be donated to Aloe Organics to help get the pending 501(c)3 charitable organization, Aloe Gives, up and running so that they can continue their mission of providing healthy, organic, immune supporting fruits and vegetables in a time of need.

The Mission:

Aloe Gives is a pending 501(c)3 non-profit organization that partners with Aloe Organics farm to provide healthy produce and nutrition education to Florida’s children through produce donations to hospitals and cancer centers combined with practical hands-on learning in partnership with community schools.

A little history:

Allison Francis Hall Nelson 1981-2012 or “Aloe”, was a wife, daughter, sister and friend. At age 28 and two months away from her wedding, she was diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast cancer.

For Allison, that invevitable thought of “what will I leave behind?” came early and suddenly. She saw an opportunity within her own family, longtime ranch owners, and decided to set aside a portion of the Hall Family ranch to grow organic, healthy produce. She, along with her parents Kay and Lewis, siblings Emily and Miles, and husband David would create a farming business targeted at children with cancer called Aloe Organics and sell the produce to schools, hospitals, restaurants and grocery stores, with a large portion of the vegetables donated directly to children with cancer through the Children’s Cancer Center.

Aloe Gives represents an extention of that dream…

To honor Allison and continue to grow awareness, Calusa Brewing will be making a beer called “Allison” and releasing it in October of every year. The beer will be a different recipe every year but will always be called “Allison” and will always include an ingredient from Aloe Organics.

Please join us in honoring a dear friend and raising awareness and some funds for a great cause.

Hurricane Irma Relief Benefit Show

We are a group of local musicians who want to help our community and put on a benefit show to benefit Irma victims. Our event will be at Jdubs Brewing on 9/24/17. All proceeds will be donated to The Red Cross. We have a full day line up of 17 local original musicians from 12-11pm. So far we have partnered with Ben & Jerry’s, S&N Real Estate, Inc., Massage Therapist Linda Aronson, Wild Ginger Apothecary, TreeUmph! Adventure Course, Geckos, and Noonday Collection representative Logan Nelms! We are looking for additional local businesses who can get involved as sponsors for expenses such as food trucks, or who can provide items for the raffle and silent auction. If we know anyone who has connections to The Rays, The Bucs, or The Lightning, tickets would be an excellent auction item. We are also looking for local artists who would be willing to do live art to be auctioned. If there is a photographer or two who could document the event that would be great too. We also need help from local media outlets to help spread the word. Any donations, ideas, or connections are appreciated! Please contact Sara Nelms or Justin Layman if you can help!
We are individual musicians coming together and partnering with local businesses to benefit our community as a whole.

– About AGoldPhoto

Adam from AGoldPhoto uses photography to tell stories of adoption, rescue and highlight various animal welfare issues. The goal of the photos is to bring traffic to his website, but once you are there, you’ll learn something too. His unique approach to working with animals allows him to showcase the pet’s personality in ways most people haven’t seen. Adam occasionally volunteers at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay to take photos of adoptable animals as well.

– Multiple Pets?

Each dog does require its own time slot. If you would like photos with multiple dogs, photos can be taken together and if they don’t cooperate, can be taken separately and edited together.
