Rock for a Cause

Family, Food, Fun & Music!

Bands battle for a $3,500 donation to a local schools music department, and the winning band will receive a $1,500 cash prize as well as perform the closing act at our annual street party!

More about the Event

When S-One Holdings Corporation approached the Sarasota Young Professionals Group about collaborating on an event geared towards giving back to our community, it was automatic match made in heaven. With the YPG boasting a strong membership base of over 500 young professionals and S-One being one of Sarasota’s largest of employers of individuals between the ages of 21-40, the two groups felt like a music based event in the heart of Downtown Sarasota was the way to go. And that is how the inaugural “Rock for a Cause” event was born!

The platform of this is based around a “Battle of the Bands” scenario where local bands will compete for not only a cash prize of $1,500 and the chance to be the closing band at the end of the event, but also the chance to allocate $3,500 towards the music department of a Sarasota County school of their choice.

From Aug. 2 to Oct. 9, bands of every genre, age, and talent level are encouraged to submit two of their songs to our website via audio or video file. Voting will be open from Oct. 12 to Oct. 23 for the public to choose their favorite 6 bands. Those bands will be announced on Oct. 23 and will then perform in front of a live audience on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Payne Park in Sarasota.

During the day of the event there will be another voting platform opened up to event participants and the public at large to choose their favorite band. The winner will be announced that evening along with the school of their choice to receive the $3,500.

Rock for a Cause will run from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will showcase vendors from all over Sarasota selling goods, food, and beverages. This family friendly event will include a “kids only” area with games and prizes as well.

This is an event for people of all ages and families alike, so please come out to support your local economy, local music scene, and help encourage people to visit and partake in activities Downtown Sarasota.

See you there!
